Frequently asked questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work with autistic adults?
Yes! I provide therapy for autistic adults who are also a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. This work can look like developing routines, discussing confusing social situations, understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder and how it can affect things like mental health, relationships, and executive function. Autism Spectrum Disorder looks different in every single person, and so understanding the challenges that each client is facing, and finding solutions that work for THEM is a big part of our work.
Do you work with adults with ADHD?
Yes! I work with adults with ADHD who are also a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Often times this work looks like understanding ADHD better and recognizing how stigma or late diagnosis can really affect mental health and executive function. Many people were given the label of ADHD, but never received support or understanding of what that really meant for them. Learning that ADHD doesn’t just mean “hyper”or “lazy” is a big piece of the puzzle.
Do I need an ADHD or ASD diagnosis to work with you?
No! I work with folks who are often overlooked in terms of diagnosis. My clients are queer women and non-binary folks who may have masked or presented differently in school than the ‘typical’ (outdated) understanding of ASD or ADHD. Often times when you have both conditions (sometimes called AUDHD), you become invisible in the classroom, and never get the support you need. With this in mind, I work with folks who are diagnoses, are in the process of diagnosis, or simply have a strong suspicion that they may fit under the neurodivergent umbrella.
Insurance
Do you accept insurance?
No, I do not accept insurance at this time. However, I can provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
What is a Superbill?
A Superbill is an inventory of services and receipt of payment that you can send to your insurance company (if they accept them, which most do) for potential reimbursement. You still pay out of pocket up front, but may be able to get partially reimbursed depending on your insurance coverage.
Payment
What are my payment options?
You can pay for your sessions using your FSA, HSA, credit card, or debit card. I use IVY Pay, which is a HIPAA compliant payment platform specifically designed for therapy services. You’ll be charged after each session, and I do not have access to your stored payment information.
What is the rate for a session?
The rate for a 50-minute session is $150.
Security and Confidentiality
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential. I am bound by ethical guidelines to keep your information private. However, I am bound by legal and ethical guidelines to report instances of child and elder abuse or neglect, or in the event someone threatens to harm themselves or others.
Is my information safe?
Yes. I use TherapyNotes, an Electronic Health Records system that is HIPAA compliant and end-to-end encrypted. It is specifically designed for therapists to use to safety store documents, records, and notes from therapy.
Scheduling
When are you available for sessions?
I offer sessions from 8-11am and 12:30-2pm, Tuesday-Friday.
Are sessions virtual?
Yes, all sessions are either video or phone sessions, depending on client preference. I use the PsychologyToday Virtual Session platform, which is HIPAA compliant and designed for therapists to use. You don’t need to download anything, and the link remains the same for every session.
